For the 6th Leg of the Amazing Google Earth Race, I thought something a little closer to home would be appropriate.

Rules:

1. I post the coordinates, which you find via Google Earth (or some other satellite software).

2. I post a question related to said coordinates.

3. I post a thread below for your answers - the first person to correctly identify the location and the answer to the question, wins!
a. For all intents and purposes, all you win is bragging rights and the responsibility of the next leg of the contest.
b. Please note, when you post the next leg, it needs to be "meta'd" ie: post only to your column and groups.

Okay, on to this leg of the race...

Location: 33°48'20.15″N, 84°08′45.69″W

Question: Who are the three people represented in the carving on the north face of this landmark?

Would someone mind clipping this to the Google Earth Race group? I'm not a member yet.

That is ROT13 encoded so as not to spoil. Oddly enough I knew exactly where it was before I even looked it up.

Thanks. I guess I'll post the next leg in a day or so; that way your step gets plenty of exposure and people get the chance to visit your location.

I recognized the coordinates too. I did not need to go BUT the answer had been given.

I actually didn't recognize the coordinates. I think the 3 people on the north face clue was what did it for me. I knew that the option Ted was thinking of couldn't be it - it was too obvious. But, about 8 years ago I happened to go to the actual answer and it jumped back into my head when I saw the clue.

I didn't really care for the place myself. I prefer Ted's location more; it was more impressive though both are pretty amazing works.

The site in Montana when they were sandblasting it some years ago was weird to see as they had some pretty decent coverage of the workers up against the faces and they looked like ants, I was amazed at the size of that one. I never did get to Stone Mt. I wanted to, but never actually made it.
